Obituary

William E. Scott Jr., 77 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe passed away in his home and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 11, 2010. Bill had been in declining health for several years.
Bill was born January 8, 1933 in Monroe, MI the son of the late William E. and Gladys (Cordrey) Scott Sr. Bill attended Monroe Public Schools and Monroe High School.
Bill served his country honorably and proudly as an Airman in the US Air Force from May 24, 1951 to July 11, 1955. It was while in the Air Force that Bill married his beloved wife the former Rita A. Dixon. Bill and Rita were married on June 14, 1954 at Sampson Air Force Base in Geneva, NY.
Bill was employed for 30 years as a conductor for both the DT&I and the CNN Railroads in Flat Rock, MI from which he retired in 1995.
Bill was a member of Monroe Full Gospel Church in Monroe and The United Transportation Union #1075. His hobbies included; bowling, fishing and golf.
More than anything Bill enjoyed his time with his wife, daughter and his granddaughters who affectionately called him "papa". Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Rita, his loving daughter Victoria Lynn (Daniel) Chlebos of Newport, his cherished granddaughters; Erin Lynn Kinkead, Nicole Ann (Mitchell) McLaughlin and Danielle Marie Kinkead, 3 brothers Gerald Scott, Kenneth (Terry) Scott of Monroe and Roy Scott of Monroe, 4 sisters; Phyllis (George) Butler of Monroe, Margie (Jerry) Richards of Monroe, Nancy (Robert) Shannon of Adrian and Patricia (George) Satterfield of Monroe, and his treasured little dog Lily. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a daughter Claudia Ann Scott in 1962, 2 brothers; Robert and James Scott and 1 sister Wilma Lockmiller.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe. On Monday, November 15, 2010 he will lie in state at Monroe Full Gospel Church from 11:00 AM until funeral services celebrating his life at 12:00 noon. The Rev. Harold Raines pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Monroe Full Gospel Church.
