William E. Pope, age 77 of Carleton, MI passed away Thursday June 14, 2007 at 3:05 P.M. in his home. He had been in poor health for two years. There will be no visitation or services. Cremation has been held. Interment will be in Huron Valley Cemetery, Flat Rock, MI. The Bacarella Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Bill was born February 26, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son of the late Roy D. and Maude L. (Stephens) Pope. Bill graduated from South Rockwood High School in 1948. Bill served in the U.S. Army from March 8, 1951 until March 8, 1953. Bill served in Korea where he was a prisoner of war. Bill was an employed by Ford Motor Company as a Tool Crib Operator for 33 years, working at the Flat Rock and Monroe plants. He retired in 1981. Bill was a life member of the VFW Post 1138 in Monroe where he served on the funeral detail. He was a member of the Lynn C. Weeman Post 514 American Legion in Ida. Bill enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bill is survived by his Godson Greg Vandergriff of Monroe.
