William F. Jennings, age 81, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022 in his home.
Bill was born May 16, 1940 in Monroe, he was the son of Arthur and Leona (Powerdly) Jennings. He married Barbara J. Laprad December 1, 1962 at St. Mary's Church Monroe.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and then St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maybee. He was also a member of VFW Post 1138, Knights of Columbus Council 1266, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 113 and Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 1297.
He proudly served his country in the US Army.
Bill worked for many years for Ford Motor Company Monroe Plant until his retirement January 1, 1998.
He loved golfing, hunting, spontaneous car trips with his friend Jim and spending time outdoors. His grandchildren meant the world to him, he never missed a sporting event or special occasion and would brag about them to anyone that would listen.
Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara J. Jennings, three children, Patrick Jennings of Clawson, Lori (Dennis) Trouten of Monroe and Karrie (Mark) Cimadon of Monroe; daughter-in-law, Shelly Jennings of Monroe; "adopted son" Bryon (Krys "Little Angel") Spare of Monroe; sister, Nancy (Frank) Barron of Grand Haven; sister-in-law, Sharon Jennings of Traverse City; three grandchildren, Hunter Cimadon, Emily Cimadon and Rachel Taylor and four great grandchildren, Starlynn, Summer, Bryson and Isiah.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Arthur Edward Jennings and brother, James Jennings.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022 at Bacarella Funeral home 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. Services will start at 6 p.m. Monday with the VFW Post 1138 providing military honors immediately followed by the funeral service with Deacon Michael Stewart officiating, a gathering will follow.
