William O. Doster, age 86 of Monroe, passed away Monday, September 11, 2023 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born February 4, 1937 in Windsor, Ontario, Bill was the son of the late Oskar and Marguerite (Marth) Doster. While working in Michigan, he met Bonnie M. Finzel and the two were wed on March 26, 1983 in Flat Rock, MI. Bonnie preceded him in death on July 5, 2019.
Bill is survived by two sons, Howard Doster and Bryan (Lana) Doster; four step-sons, Rodney (Kathleen) Finzel, Barry (Muriel) Finzel, Bret (Susan) Finzel, and Bart (Sally) Finzel; step-daughter, Laurie (Robert) Berry; three sisters, Elenor McCallum, Nancy (Gerry) Gagnier, and Jane (Dan Courtland) Tierney; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Bill was a kind-hearted, funny little man, filled with corny jokes and a great love of family. The Monroe community will remember his volunteerism along with his wife Bonnie Finzel-Doster. He will be missed by his family and remembered for his quirks and his affectionately known "Billisms".
Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with cremation and burial arrangements through Roselawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Meals On Wheels, or Gabby's Ladder.
In addition to his parents and wife Bonnie, Bill is preceded in death by three sisters, Marjorie Uber, Caron Breckner, and Susan Racicot; and brother, Richard Doster.
