William Douglas “Bill” Call, age 79, of Newport, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026 in his home surrounded by his family.

Bill was born April 24, 1947 in Monroe, he was the son of Merl and Matilda (Russo) Call. He married Imelda P. Carroll October 12, 1968.

He was a 1965 graduate of Monroe High School. He was a member of Swan Boat Club, where he had served as Commodore. He also served as Commodore for the AYC in 2000. He enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiling and golfing. He and his wife spent many winters at Sun N Fun in Ft. Myers, FL. He loved the time he spent with his family.

He began working for Ford Motor Company Wayne Plant at the age of 18 until his retirement in 2003.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Imelda; two children, William D. (Cindy) Call, II of Southgate and Janelle Call of Monroe; two sisters, Pat and Sue; two grandchildren, Anthony (Allison) Miller and Carly Call and great grandchild, Peyton Miller.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jim, Bob and Mike Call.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2026 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. that evening. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
