Obituary

William Eugene Baker, Sr., age 75, of Monroe, passed away Friday, May 30, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
William was born March 24, 1950 in San Angelo, Texas, he was the son of William Harry and Margaret Rose (London) Baker. He married Deborah DeNoewer September 29, 1986.
He was known as Bill, Gene and J.R. depending on how and when you might have known him.
He worked for McLouth Steel on the railroad working as a conductor. He then worked at a stone mix company as a forklift driver until his retirement in 2011.
After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, especially making birdfeeders. He also liked hunting, fishing, bowling and watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Debbie; three children, Kathy Baker of Monroe, Linda (Jason) Parker of Monroe and Willie (Maxine) Baker, Jr. of Toledo; two siblings, Dave (Misty) Baker of Monroe and Melodie (Jim) Heinzelman of Newport and ten grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Tammy Montry and Jerry Baker and a brother-in-law, Francis Montry.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1120 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe where there will be a sharing of memories beginning at 7 p.m.
