Wayne Alan Campbell, 76 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
Born November 23, 1945 in Urbana, Illinois, Wayne was the son of the late Stanley F. and Frances A. (Livengood) Campbell. He received his BA in Industrial Technology from Eastern Illinois University in 1976.
Wayne served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Medal.
On August 24, 1968, Wayne married the former Edith Geraldine Bear in Homer, IL. The couple moved their family to Monroe in 1987.
Wayne worked as an account executive for Team Industrial Services for over 25 years until his retirement in 2015. He enjoyed golfing, and his two dogs: Sassy and Bentley. His family remembers him fondly for his long-winded storytelling and his heart. He was dedicated to the community of veterans in Monroe, working as a Service Officer at the local Disabled American Veterans Office. Wayne was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Frenchtown-Newport Chapter 137 and the Monroe VFW Post 1138.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Edith. His two loving sons Raymond (Jennifer) Campbell of Versailles, Kentucky, Jasen (Kimberly) Campbell of Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Three cherished grandchildren Caden, Grayson and Maci. Siblings Sue Carol (Gary) Payton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Thomas Campbell of Gulf Breeze, Florida. In-Laws of Judy Byerley, Darlene James, Alfreda Hopper, Joe Bear, and John Bear.
Memorial contributions can be made in Wayne's honor to Disabled American Veterans Frenchtown-Newport Chapter 137 or the charity of the donor's choice.
