Walter John Gorowski, age 79 of Ida, Michigan, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born January 15, 1945 in Monroe, Walter was the son of the late Walter and Juanita (Aiston) Gorowski. He graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School in 1963. Shortly after leaving school, Walter joined the United States Air Force and honorably served his country in the Vietnam War for four years.
During that time Walter married the love of his life, Sandra Kay (Measel) Gorowski in 1964. Together they went on to have two children and share 60 blessed years of marriage.
Walter had a long working career at Consumers Power and was a member of American Legion Post 514 where he enjoyed spending much of his free time. He also loved to go up north to the Upper Peninsula with his son every year to go deer hunting. When he wasn't hunting, Walter greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchild.
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Gorowski; two children, Rick (Shelly) Gorowski of Ida, and Wendy (Chris) Hubbard of Monroe; two brothers, Dan Gorowski of Grand Rapids, and Mike (Wennie) Gorowski of Adrian; four grandchildren, Jake (Shannon) Gorowski, Josh Gorowski, Corey Hubbard, and Kayla Hubbard; and one great-grandchild, Jordyn Gorowski.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, October 4th, from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home. Military honors will be provided by Monroe VFW Post 1138 at 4 p.m.
