Vivian E. Bathgate, age 91, of Monroe, MI passed away, Wednesday, October 15, 2008 in the Lutheran Home in Monroe, MI. Vivian was born January 29, 1917 in Pierson, MI the daughter of the late Levi and Ethel (Fox) Widmayer. On August 10, 1937 in Napoleon, OH Vivian married her beloved husband Milton Bathgate. Sadly he preceded her in death on April 1, 1980. A homemaker, Vivian was well known for baking wedding cakes in the Monroe area for many years. While living in Cedar Springs, MI Vivian enjoyed volunteering at the local school. Vivian was a member of East Raisinville United Methodist Church for over 30 years and a member of the Monroe Senior Citizens. Vivian is survived by her loving children; Dean (Sharon) Bathgate and Carolyn Bathgate both of Monroe, 4 cherished grandchildren and 5 treasured great grandchildren, 2 half brothers; Raymond Widmayer of Tucson, AZ and Ronald Widmayer of Howard City, MI. In addition to her husband and parents, Vivian was preceded in death by an infant son Milton Larry Bathgate, 2 sisters, Eleanor Marks and Velma Nielson and a half brother Richard Widmayer. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. John Schinkel Chaplain at the Lutheran Home will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in South Rockwood, MI. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choosing.
