Obituary

Virginia M. Uhlik, 92 years, of Carleton, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Prior to entering the hospital she had been a resident of Fountain View of Monroe since June of 2014.
Born April 23, 1922 in Erie, Michigan, Virginia was the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel (Jacobs) Pillette. She was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Virginia attended St. Michael the Archangel Parish and School where she was confirmed in the Catholic faith. During the depression, she had to quit school and get a job to help her family. Knowing the importance of an education, Virginia went back to school and in 1978 graduated from Airport High School.
On September 28, 1944 Virginia married her beloved husband Joseph Uhlik at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe. Sadly, he preceded her in death on June 9, 2005 after 60 years of marriage.
During WWII, Virginia worked for Monroe Auto Equipment for four years to help with the war effort. She then became a wonderful and talented homemaker, caring for her family.
Virginia was a 4-H leader for over 20 years and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Divine Grace Parish, in Carleton where she served on the Altar Society. Virginia was very artistic and enjoyed all types of crafts including ceramics. She was also a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. A wonderful cook, she spent many hours in the kitchen canning and baking for her family and friends. She spent winters in Florida for many years. Most of all, Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved time spent with family.
Virginia is survived by two loving children: Francis (Karen) Uhlik of South Rockwood, MI and Michelle M. (Annette Gasper) Marcero of Dundee, MI, nine cherished grandchildren, nine treasured great grandchildren, one precious great great grandson, and one sister: Nova (Gus) Trevino of San Antonio, TX.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by a son: Lawrence, five sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-7 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM. The Rev.
