Obituary

Virginia May Cole, age 92, of Southgate, formerly of Monroe, went home to her Lord God and savior on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Oakwood Southshore Hospital in Trenton. She was born in Hopkins County, Kentucky November 23, 1921 the daughter of James and Henrietta Mae (White) Williams. She married William Ray Cole July 9, 1951 at Springfield, Tennessee. Sadly he passed on August 29, 1984. Virginia was a true believer in the Lord and lived her life accordingly. She was a faithful church attendee and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed movies and went every day at the mall when her health would allow. During World War II she was a supervisor in a parachute plant near her home in Kentucky. She took this responsibility very seriously because she knew the lives of our servicemen could be in jeopardy if the work was not done properly. She is survived by her loving daughter Celia (Gene) Powell of Southgate; her 4 loving grandchildren; her 7 special great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and 4 brothers. In accordance with her wishes cremation has been held. Friends may gather at the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, 14620 S. Dixie Hwy., Monroe, MI 48161, on Saturday, August 23,2014 from 10 AM until a memorial service at 11 AM. Officiating will be the church pastor, Rev. Roy Southerland. Arrangements are being conducted by the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road in Monroe, MI.
