Viola L. Patton, 93 years, of Bean Station, TN, formerly of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 6:30 AM.
Born May 10, 1918, Viola was the daughter of the late John and Maggie (Berry) Brummett.
On September 22, 1945 Viola married her beloved husband William M. Patton in Middlesboro, KY. Sadly, he preceded her in death on February 1, 1991 after 45 years of marriage.
Viola and Bill moved to Monroe in 1947 from Union County, TN to raise their family. Viola was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and tending to her family. Viola moved back to Bean Station, TN to make her home with her daughter. Viola was a member of First Christian Baptist Church in Monroe.
Viola is survived by 2 loving children; Glenda Clayton of Bean Station, TN and Hubert (Luella) Patton of Rutledge, TN, 5 cherished grandchildren, 14 treasured great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Lonzo Brummett of Mendon, OH and Milton (Franie) Brummet of Sweet Water, TN, 2 sisters; Dorothy Cooper and Arzetta Redwine both of Fort Oglethorpe, GA. In addition to her husband and parents, Viola was preceded in death by a brother Harley Brummett and 3 precious grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, from 11:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Guy C. Ervin will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
