Victor A. Lieto, age 63 of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in his home. He had been in declining health for several years.
Born October 21, 1959 in Monroe, Vic was the son of the late Ralph and Betty (Trombly) Lieto. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1978 and married Sandra L. Chittum on August 1, 1980 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Together they raised three children.
Vic had a long career as a Journeyman Machinist. He was employed by Modern Packaging and Ammex Plastics in Monroe where he was also head of maintenance at both facilities. Vic formerly served as AFL-CIO Union Local President.
Vic was an avid outdoorsman and member of the Dundee Sportsman Club where he was a former board member. His many hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapshooting, and archery. He also enjoyed driving his 1969 Chevy Nova to car shows.
Vic is survived by his wife of 42 years. Sandy Lieto; three children, Matthew and Jared Lieto, both of Monroe, and Amanda (Kyle) Brown of Britton, MI; two brothers, Anthony (Sandra) Lieto and Don (Lorna) Lieto, both of Monroe; and grandson, Jackson Brown.
In addition to his parents, Vic was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Mack.
Family and friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 7th at Bacarella Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Vic will lie in state at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. by the church pastor, Rev. Fr. Kishore Battu. Cremation will follow with private interment at a later date at LaSalle Township Cemetery.
