Victor E. Fleure, Jr., age 89 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born September 23, 1934 in Monroe, Vic was the son of the late Victor E. and Esther L. (Stotz) Fleure, Sr. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1952 and attended University of Michigan and Northwestern University, Chicago Campus. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from March 1, 1956 to October 2, 1957. On June 16, 1966, Vic married Bonnie L. (Doty) Merkle at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Vic had a long career in the paper product manufacturing industry in Monroe. As a sales representative, he had been employed by Consolidated Paper, Ace Paper, and Time Container/Jefferson Smurfit before retiring in 1999.
Vic was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroe Club, and a former member of the Monroe Golf and Country Club and the Michigan Chapter of SPHE.
Vic is survived by his wife, Bonnie Fleure; two step-daughters, Marilyn (Merkle) Dunning of Carmel, IN and Claudia (Merkle) (Joe) Balcer of Bartlett, IL; sister-in-law, Nancy (Hoyte) (Fleure) Kelly of OH; four grandchildren: Stephanie Dunning, Alex Dunning, Amanda (Balcer) (Eric) Wittke, and Jason Balcer; three great-grandchildren: Grady, Ryker, and Conrad Wittke; two nieces, Ann (Fleure) (Robert) Cavellier and Lynn Fleure.
In addition to his parents, Vic was preceded in death by a brother, Richard R. Fleure.
Family and friends may visit from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 28th at Bacarella Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday. Rev. Dennis Mann of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate followed by burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
