Vera Ilene Peters, 75 years, of Newport, MI passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 8:40 AM in her home. Vera was born February 10, 1934 in Maybee, MI the daughter of the late Leonard and Viola (Born) Federer. Vera was a 1952 graduate of Dundee High School. On January 22, 1958, Vera married her beloved husband Charles David Peters in Angola, IN. Sadly, he preceded her in death on November 18, 1980. Vera was employed as a bus driver for Monroe Public Schools for 25 years until her retirement in 1989. Vera was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Monroe and enjoyed gardening and her Dachshund - Sassy Babe. Above all Vera loved and enjoyed her family. Vera is survived by her loving daughter Verna E. (Robert) Fox of Monroe, MI and her cherished granddaughter Verena I. (Sean) Casey of Farmington Hills, MI, her brother Leonard Federer of Ypsilanti, MI and her sister Nancy H. (Bryson) Bennett of Westminster, CA. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1-9 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe. On Tuesday, February 2, 2010, Vera will lie in state from 12 noon until funeral services celebrating her life at 1:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 5070 N. Stony Creek Rd. in Monroe. The Rev. James Schmeling, pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at London Township Cemetery.
