Vada L. Meyers, 77, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at Mercy Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health for 3 years. She was born January 29, 1931 in LaFollette, Tennessee to James G. and Pearl F. (Moore) Pierce. Vada married Louis B. Meyers on July 22, 1950 at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. He died on March 29, 1993. Vada graduated from Monroe High School in 1950. She went on to work at the Monroe County Road Commission, and was a licensed real estate agent with her husband's business, Louis B. Meyers Real Estate. She was a member of Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center. Vada enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and her husband spent several winters at their home in Spanish Trails West, Zephyrhills, Florida. Vada is survived by daughters Vickie (Howard) Venier of Newport and Terri (Keith) Kelley of Monroe; grandchildren Tom Foshag, Jr. of Carleton, Terra (John) MacIsaac of Newport, Kristyn Kelley and Scott Kelley, both of Monroe; great-grandchildren Lauryn, Alex, and Avari; and extended family members Virginia, Lynna and Steve Reese all of Monroe.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Clifford Pierce. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd in Monroe. On Saturday, January 17, 2009 she will lie in state at Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Sam Luke Senior Pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
