Trennia A. Cole, age 85 of Monroe, MI, passed away Monday, August 31, 2026 in her home.
Born August 9, 1941 in Middlesboro, KY, Trennia was the daughter of the late Charlie and Nora (Jordan) Thomas. As a child, her family moved north and made Monroe their home.
Trennia loved taking care of her flower garden as well as shopping, traveling, and going to garage sales during the summer. She had a caregiver’s heart. She was employed at Wellspring Lutheran Home from 1989 until retiring in 2020. She began as an aide and eventually became one of the activities coordinators. Even when she was no longer an aide, her passion for helping the residents continued. Her love and dedication for them and her family is what she cherished most in her life.
Trennia is survived by her three children, Marcia (Greg) Calloway of Louisville, KY, John Allen Cole of Monroe, MI, and Carmella “Toni” (Steven) Rollins of Temperance, MI; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her companion for many years, James Seals of Monroe.
Trennia was preceded in death by her father; her mother, Nora Shoffner; six brothers and one sister.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8th at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wed. Sept. 9th. Rev. Rick Massingill, pastor of North Monroe Street Church of God will officiate followed by burial at Woodland Cemetery.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the extraordinary team at hospice: nurses, aides, social workers, and chaplains. Not only did they dedicate their time and their care and support to mom, also the emotional and practical needs of her loved ones as well! Exceptionally, Danielle, Tracy and Shayla. In gratitude, they request memorial donations be directed to Elara Caring Hospice.
