Tom Kevin Sulfaro, age 52 of Temperance, formerly of Monroe, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, September 14, 2023 surrounded by his loving family and nurses.
Born August 14, 1971 in Monroe, Tom was the son of the late Samuel and Violet (Valicenti) Sulfaro. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1991 and earned an Associate of Commerce Degree from Monroe County Community College.
Tom was a warrior of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He lived life to the fullest despite his lifelong disease. Through determination and perseverance, he lived to be one of the oldest people in the world afflicted with Duchenne. Tom unofficially became ambassador to the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy community.
Tom was a big Detroit Lions and Tigers fan and an even bigger University of Michigan Football fan. He enjoyed interacting with Amazon Alexa, singing, dancing, and playing cards.
Tom is survived by two brothers, Sam (Linda) Sulfaro and Robert (Tracy) Sulfaro; two sisters, Tina (Joe) Mariano and Lisa Sulfaro; nephews, Dustin Sulfaro and Steven (Laura) Sulfaro; niece, Kellie (Nick) St. Bernard; and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew and Frank Sulfaro, and niece, Kristi Mariano.
Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18th at Bacarella Funeral Home where a Scripture Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tom will lie in state the following day, Tuesday, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Michigan Memorial Park.
