Tom E. "Pops" Evans, age 86, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at The Toledo Hospital.
Tom was born February 13, 1935, in Tazewell, TN, he was the son of Floyd and Lydia (Trent) Evans. He married Kathryn Mink May 7, 1960, she preceded him in death April 20, 2020.
He served in the U. S. Air Force August 25, 1953, until his honorable discharge on August 20, 1957.
Tom was a Fire Fighter for the City of Monroe for 27 years; retiring in 1992. He also worked for New York Carpet, Clyde and Flooring of America measuring for carpet installation.
He enjoyed golfing and was a longtime member of Deme Acres Golf Course.
Tom is survived by his children, David (Johanna) Evans of Monroe and Sherree Rodriguez of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren and a few great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lester Evans and sister, Beulah Bunce.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2021, at Bacarella Funeral Home 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. Military honors will be held at 3 p.m. under the auspices of V.F.W. 1138, Monroe.
