Obituary

Thomas L. Stratton, age 67, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 9:12 PM in his home surrounded by his loving family. Tom had been in poor health for 13 months. Tom was born May 25, 1940 in Monroe the son of William and Thelma (Puckett) Stratton. Tom attended Monroe High School. Tom served his country as a US Marine stationed in Hawaii. On January 19, 1963 in Monroe Tom married his beloved wife Betty Lou McHone. Tom was employed by General Motors Corporation where he worked as a maintenance technician at the Fisher Body Plant for 32 years, retiring in 1992. After Tom retired he and his wife purchased a farm in Hillsdale, MI. His greatest joy in life was to spend time there with his wife and bow hunt with his loving boys; Paul T., Steven S. both of Carleton, MI and Kevin S. of Monroe, his cherished grandson Kacey and his hunting buddy Bert Wilson. Tom also loved fishing and growing a vegetable garden where he so enjoyed giving his harvest away to family and friends. In addition to his beloved wife, children and grandson, Tom is survived by his beloved mother Thelma of Monroe, his sister Zola (Charlie) Hotchkiss of Monroe, his aunt Betty Williams of Monroe, 4 nieces and 1 nephew. Sadly, Tom was preceded in death by his dad, his sister Boots Amolsch and his brother Bob Stratton. Tom's family will receive friends on Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Bacarella Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until a memorial service celebrating his life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Larry K Loree Sr. pastor of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church will officiate. Cremation has been held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.
