Thomas Edward Morgan, Sr., age 78, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Monroe Springs Rehab and Nursing Center.
Tom was born June 7, 1945 in Monroe, he was the son of William M. and Phyllis M. (Seitz) Morgan. He married Annetta Bowman in 1965.
Tom was a 1963 graduate of Monroe High School. He was a dedicated member of Calvary United Methodist from his birth until the church closed in November of 2021. He held many positions at the church including: Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Financial Secretary, Church Treasurer and singing in the choir.
He spent many years in banking and mortgage, retiring in 1994 after 30 years. He enjoyed helping couples buy their first home and many times when he would see these couples years later they would thank him again for helping them. Tom also worked as an assistant manager at Nortel Lanes for many years.
At the age of 18, Tom started preparing his own and other family members income taxes. He became an enrolled agent and opened Morgan's Income Tax Service, LLC.
Tom also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, playing games on the computer, doing fill in puzzles, coin collecting, traveling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Annetta; two sons, Thomas (Stephanie) Morgan, Jr. of Monroe and David (Kellyanne) Morgan of Toledo; a sister, Betty Stevens of Petersburg; five grandchildren, Sydni (Brandon) Adler, Brianna (Jason) Basile, Nick Morgan, Faith Morgan and Alex Morgan and two great grandchildren, Ryalin Isabella Basile and Wells Joseph Adler.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Rev John Carrier, interim pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
