Thomas L. McCammon, age 77 of Monroe, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 while vacationing in Las Vegas, Nevada. He had recently been in poor health.
Born February 8, 1944 in Monroe, Tom was the son of the late Robert and Mary (MacCauley) McCammon. He graduated from Monroe High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served from July 5, 1961 until being honorably discharged on July 2, 1965. Afterward, Tom began a long working career for Jefferson Public Schools as a custodian, retiring after 30 years of employment.
In 1976, Tom married Debra Ditty in Monroe. He later married Vondia "Bonnie" Mazur of Monroe in 1994. Sadly, Bonnie preceded him in death on September 22, 2012.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Tina Miller of Monroe; six grandchildren: Amanda (Daniel) Webb, Cody Miller, Danielle Ditty, Samantha Ditty, Danny Ditty, Jr., and Candace (Josh) Bargo; and a great-grandson, Dawson Miller.
In addition to his parents and wife Bonnie, Tom was also preceded in death by a step-son, Danny Ditty and a brother, Larry McCammon.
Private visitation and services were held at Bacarella Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Southerland officiated along with military honors provided by Monroe VFW Post 1138. Burial followed at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI.
