Thomas W. Mattingly, 51, of Saint Joe, IN, formerly of Monroe, passed away at 2:15 PM, Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Ft. Wayne Hospice Home, Ft. Wayne, IN, where he had been for a couple days. He had been in poor health for 5 years and seriously ill for 2 years. He was born September 20, 1956 in Corbin, KY to Thomas and Mahalie (Brown) Mattingly, he came to Michigan in 1966. Edward C. Levy Corporation employed him for about 15 years in Detroit, then 5 years in Indiana. While living in Monroe he attended Grape Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid fan. He is survived by his children, Brian of Wayne County, Thomas James and Tonya of Tennessee, and Monica of Novi, MI, brothers, Ray Mattingly of Newport and John Martin of Virginia, sister, Mary Paul of Monroe, and several grandchildren. His parents and a sister preceded him in death. Friends may call 2-9 PM Wednesday at the Bacarella Funeral Home, where services will be held at 10 AM Thursday. Rev. Bobby Smith of Grape Missionary Baptist Church will officiate and burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
