Theresa Angela Tomaro, age 90, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2022 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born November 7, 1931 in Monroe, Theresa was the daughter of the late Alfred and Rose (Cozzie) Sconocchia. Theresa attended Lincoln Elementary School in Monroe and was a 1949 graduate of Monroe High School.
On November 24, 1951 Theresa married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Albert "Iggy" Tomaro at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. Together they raised two children, son, Alan Anthony Tomaro and Terry Ann Elinski and spent almost 71 married years together.
In 1951 the couple moved to Glendale, Arizona and lived off base, near Luke Air Force Base, where Iggy was stationed. They returned in 1953 and have been residents of Monroe since that time.
Theresa was a lifelong and very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe, where she was baptized and confirmed. When St. Joseph Church closed, she became a member at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. Theresa was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent cook who loved feeding everyone. She was also a Detroit Tiger Fan. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with family.
To cherish her memory, Theresa leaves her husband, Albert, her son, Alan Anthony (Jane) Tomaro of Monroe, her daughter, Terry (Ray Leighton) of Lambertville, MI, grandchildren: Mark (Lindsey) Elinski, Kurt (Trisha) Elinski, Alana (Chris Cornack) Tomaro, Jimi Tomaro, and Daniel Boberg, great grandchildren; Ashleigh and Damian Boberg, her brother, Arthur "Archie" (Beth) Sconochia, many nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Mary Cooley.
In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony "Tony" (Leona) Sconocchia and a sister, Clara (Ben) Mondello.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 – 6 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161 and on Friday, November 11, 2022 beginning at 10:00 am followed by funeral services celebrating Theresa's life at 11:00 am, also at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
