Obituary

Theresa E. Celso, age 100 of Monroe, formerly of Plymouth, MI, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the home of her granddaughter.
Born November 17, 1924 in Hooversville, PA, Theresa was the daughter of the late Stanley and Carmella (Frazas) DiGregoria. She married Andrew A. Celso on June 8, 1946 in Hooversville and moved to Michigan in the late 1940's for her husband to find work. They first settled in Lincoln Park where they lived for 20 years and later moved to Plymouth in the mid 1960's.
They joined Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Plymouth where Theresa became an active member of the congregation. For 30 years she was involved as a Eucharistic Minister, Lord's Laundry, and Arts and Environments for the church.
Theresa embraced all aspects of being a homemaker. She loved to cook and bake and passed that love onto her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Theresa was into living a healthy lifestyle, doing aerobics and walking almost a mile a day when weather permitted. She enjoyed golfing with her husband and relaxing by crocheting hats and scarves for the homeless until her recent illness. In 2015, they moved to Monroe to be closer to family, attending St. Michael and St. Mary Catholic Church. Sadly, after 74 years of marriage, Andrew passed on February 15, 2020 at the age of 97.
Theresa is survived by two grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert) Judd of Monroe and Brent (Erica) Celso of Saline, MI; four great-grandchildren: Ethan Judd, Abigail Judd, Grace Celso, and Gavin Celso.
In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa is preceded in death by three sons, Thomas, Gregory and Andrew Celso, and seven siblings.
Theresa will return to her home parish in Plymouth, Our Lady of Good Counsel, to lie in state at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9th. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Monsignor Todd Lajiness. Cremation will follow with inurnment at Our Lady of Hope in Brownstown where she will be placed next to her husband. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral and cremation arrangements.
For anyone wishing to make a memorial donation, the family recommends St. Jude Children's Hospital, a charity Theresa supported for many years.
