Obituary

Terry Alan Nisley, age 56, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 5th. His loving wife, Michelle, was by his side.
Terry was born on January 14th, 1965, in Monroe, Michigan to Cecil and Jo Ann Nisley. He was the youngest of the three Nisley children, born after eldest brother Scott (James Bianchi) and favorite sister Michelle Dugan (Pete and Jana).
Terry completed his K-12 education through Monroe Public Schools. He was an exceptional athlete and excelled at swimming and golf. Terry graduated in 1983 from Monroe High School, and then earned an Associate Degree from Monroe County Community College. Terry went on to have a successful career of over 30 years at multiple banking institutions as a commercial lender, culminating at First Merchants Bank (formerly Monroe Bank and Trust). Terry never met a stranger and formed strong relationships with many people throughout his career. He was a confidant, trusted advisor, and friend to many of his coworkers and clients.
Terry met the love of his life, Michelle (Harvell) on a blind date in February of 1993. Terry knew from the night he met Michelle that he loved her and wanted to marry her. They were married in September of 1994 and had a love-filled and Christ-centered marriage of 27 years.
In July of 2000, Terry and Michelle's dreams of becoming parents were realized when they were blessed with the birth of their quadruplets, Caleb, Nathan, Abigail, and Seth. Nicknamed "The Quadfather," Terry was enthusiastically involved in every aspect of his children's lives. He was a master vacation planner, baseball coach, and Sunday School teacher. Terry loved watching his children's involvement in their homeschool group, and attended every spelling bee, play, and speech meet with his camera always at the ready. He was involved in planning school trips for the group, including visits to the Creation Museum, the Ark, Hocking Hills, and a spectacular senior trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He cared about his children very deeply, and gave of his time, money, and love freely. He was a fun-loving and goofy dad; he always had a cheesy dad joke or prank at the ready and brightened everyone's day through his sense of humor. Terry had a passion for music; he loved watching his children play their instruments and attended many bluegrass festivals and concerts. He also created the River Raisin Acoustic Music Festival for charity.
The most important thing in Terry's life was his relationship with the Lord. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in April of 1994. Terry was intricately involved at Van Born Baptist Church, serving as treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and spearheading many youth activities. His genuine love for Christ showed itself in every area of his life. He shared his testimony of salvation with many of his friends and clients and showed the love of Jesus to everyone he met.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bacarella Funeral Home 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. where a memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. Pastor Gregory Albright, pastor of Van Born Baptist Church, will officiate. A funeral luncheon will follow.
