Teddy L. Ramsey, 68 years, of Monroe, MI, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 9:15 PM in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 3, 1945 in Middlesboro, KY, Teddy was the son of the late Charles and Zola (Brooks) Ramsey, Jr. The family moved to Monroe when Teddy was a child. Teddy attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1964 graduate of Monroe High School.
Teddy served his country honorably and proudly as a Airman First Class in the United States Air Force. Teddy served from September 24, 1965 until his discharge on January 21, 1969. For his service, Teddy received the Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
On November 11, 1967 Teddy married his beloved wife, the former P. Marcelle Rice at Union Street Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe, MI.
Teddy was employed by Firestone Steel Products in Wyandotte, MI and by Federal Mogul in Milan, MI from which he retired in 2000.
Teddy attended Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the NRA and the U.A.W. Teddy enjoyed golfing, yard work and traveling. Teddy will be remembered as a hard working man with a strong faith in God who was devoted to his loving family, especially his grandchildren.
Teddy is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Marcelle, three loving children: Matthew S. (Mary) Ramsey of Kettering, OH, Marcus T. (Denise) Ramsey of Monroe and Holli R. Stieben of Monroe, seven cherished grandchildren: Sarah, Kade, Liam, Rachel, Caleb, and Connor Ramsey and Calin Stieben, a treasured great grandson: Declan, a brother: Richard L. Ramsey of Morristown, TN, a brother in law: Guy, a sister in law: Linda, and his faithful dog MacGregor (Mac).
In addition to his parents, Teddy was preceded in death by a sister: Diane Nearpass.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 1:00 PM. The Rev. B.J. McDaniel, pastor of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors.
Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
