Sylvia LaRue Clevenger, 86, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at 9:20 PM, Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital, Taylor, where she had been since January 31st. She had been in poor health for 4 years and seriously ill for a month. She was born on November 17, 1921 in Saxton, PA to Chalmer and Mary (Rohm) Zimmerman. She was a 1939 graduate of Monroe High School, and her membership and activities include the Nankin Chapter, #238, OES, Wayne, where she had served as past Worthy Matron, past Wayne County Marshall, OES, past Mother Advisor of Wayne Assembly #72, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, and the past Noble Grand of Collins Rebekah Lodge, #325, Wayne. Survivors include her daughters, Janet (Dennis) Elder of Monroe and Brenda (Roger) Provey of River Rouge, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a great great grandchild, and her brother, Blaine (Mary Lou) Zimmerman of Monroe. Sadly, her husbands, Kenneth Clevenger and Al Lynch, sons, Elden (Red) Clevenger and Douglas Hansen, sisters, Betty Newby, Helen Stanifer, and Vivian Wilkie, and brothers, George, Chalmer, Pat, and Clyde Zimmerman all preceded her in death. Friends may call from 1-8 PM Tuesday at the Bacarella Funeral Home, where the Nankin Chapter #238, OES, Wayne will conduct a service at 7:30 PM. Funeral Services commemorating her life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home, her nephew, Rev. Tom Zimmerman of Lambertville United Methodist Church will officiate. Cremation will follow. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
