Susan K. Westover, age 77 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Ebeid Center, Sylvania, OH.
Born February 29, 1948 in Monroe, Sue was the daughter of the late Charles and Gloris (Cousino) Drake and a 1966 graduate of St. Mary Academy. On June 7, 1997, she married Thomas V. Westover in Reno, NV. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2020.
Having worked at DTE Monroe Power Plant and Comcast Cablevision, Sue finished her office career with Tenneco, Inc. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and member of its choir. She volunteered at the IHM Motherhouse Gift Shop for several years with her best friend and partner in fun, Kathy. In memory of her son, she silently donated to organizations, paid off lay-a-ways for strangers, and bought groceries for others.
Sue is survived by four wonderful stepchildren: Jennifer Allen of Erie, MI, Chris (Kristen) Westover of Monroe, MI, Kevin (Ashly Moran) Westover of Lambertville, MI, and Julie (Justin) Burger of Temperance, MI; three siblings: Ron (Barb) Drake of Monroe, MI, Rick Drake of Washington, DC, and Lynne (Russ) Boudrie of Maybee, MI; six grandchildren that she dearly loved: Nathan (Maddie) Allen, Madison Allen, Kyle Burger, Kamryn Burger, Lauryn Burger, and Wyatt Westover; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by her beloved son, Chad Fanning, who was her heart, and brothers Rob Drake and Tom Sharrow.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23rd at Bacarella Funeral Home. Sue will lie in state Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church where Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow with private interment at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
To honor Sue's desire to help others in need, the family requests monetary acts of kindness be considered in lieu of flowers. The family suggests supporting SMCC High School or St. Michael Catholic Church.
