Steven A. Love, age 53, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, OH. Steve had been in declining health since July of 2008. Steve was born June 15, 1955 in Monroe the son of Cleve and Eileen J. (Baker) Love. Steve was a 1974 graduate Airport High School where he ran track, played football and was a trumpeter in the school band. After graduation Steve became an assistant coach for the track team. Steve was employed for 30 years by Ford Motor Company working as a quality control inspector at the Monroe Plant from which he retired in 2005. Steve worked as a bus driver for Monroe Public Schools and as a Realtor for First Realty GMAC Realty in Monroe. He also helped his father with his concrete business. Steve was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Steve enjoyed many things in life such as traveling, hunting, fishing, boating, skiing, and bicycling. Steve also enjoyed genealogy. He was the genealogist for both his mother and father's families. He served as president of both the Kohler and Love Family Reunion Committee's. Steve was very involved with the Monroe County Relay for Life. Steve's greatest love was his children and his family. Steve is survived by his loving mother Eileen Love of Monroe, his beloved children; James D. Love and Alicia J. Love both of Monroe and his sisters; Janice M. (Bill) Jay of Monclova, OH and Debra K. (John) Sexton of Dundee. Sadly, Steve's father Cleve preceded him in death only a few weeks ago on December 29, 2008. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-8 PM at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Jeffrey B. Walsh of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe County Relay For Life.
