Steven Michael Knezevich, 56, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
Born May 27, 1969, in Monroe, Steve was the son of the late Bosko Knezevich, Jr and Margaret E. (Kansier) Cole. Steve was baptized, confirmed and attended grade school at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Monroe. He was a 1987 graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School. While in high school Steve excelled in football and wrestling. He went on to attend North Dakota State University on a football scholarship and later attended Eastern Michigan University.
Steve worked for UPS for 35 years as a delivery driver and as a supervisor. He retired in January of 2024.
He was an incredible dart player and was a member of the Monroe County Mixed Dart League, OCMA Dart League and the Rabbit Dart League. He won several state championships in multiple dart divisions both in Michigan and Ohio.
Steve was a life member of the VFW Post 1138 Auxiliary. He enjoyed spending his time there and participating in events.
Steve is survived by his girlfriend and best friend for the past 19 years, Cheryl M. Marino and whom he made his home with, her son Thomas Marino, his sister and brother-in-law, Kellie and David LaBarr of Santee, CA, a niece, Emma LaBarr, a nephew, Zachary LaBarr, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Bosko Knezevich, Jr and his mother Margaret Cole.
In keeping with Steve's wishes cremation has taken place. On Sunday June 21, 2026, friends and family are invited to a memorial visitation at the VFW Post 1138, 400 Jones Avenue, Monroe, MI, 48161 starting at 12:00 noon followed by a luncheon at 1:00. The Steve Knez Memorial Dart tournament will begin at 2:00 for anyone who would like to participate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the VFW Post 1138.
