Steven S. Haver, 67, of LaSalle, passed away in his home, at 6:57 PM, Friday, March 6, 2009. He was born January 2, 1942 in VanWert, OH to George S. and Mary (Rigdon) Haver. A graduate of Shawnee High School, Lima, OH and Anderson University, Anderson, IN, he came to Monroe in 1966 from Lima. He was a Biology and Human Physiology teacher at Jefferson High School for 36 years until retiring in 2003. Steve was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting and camping. He leaves to mourn, his mother, Mary Haver of Lima, OH, his girlfriend with whom he made his home with, Karen S. Gray, 3 sons, Timothy S. (Jacquelyn) Haver of North Judson, IN, and Joshua and Matthew Haver, both of San Diego, CA, a daughter, Kimberly (Danny) Day of McDoungh, GA, a brother, Kevin (Terry) Haver of Lima, a sister, Joyce (Jerry) Haver-Welch of Monroe, and five grandchildren. Sadly, his father, two brothers, Mike and Joe, and a sister, Janet, preceded him in death. Friends may call 1-8 PM Monday at the Bacarella Funeral Home, Monroe, where services celebrating his life will be at 1 PM Tuesday. Rev. Roy Southerland, of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate, with cremation to follow. Memorial gifts in his name may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
