Obituary

Stella Zdeb, 94 years, of Monroe, MI passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011 in Magnum of Monroe. Stella had been in declining health for the past year.
Born March 21, 1917 in Detroit, MI, Stella was the daughter of the late Anthony and Katherine (Wrobel) Bajor. Her family moved to Carleton in 1925.
On June 24, 1939, Stella married Stanley Zdeb at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in New Boston, MI. Sadly, Stanley preceded her in death.
Stella worked as a seamstress for La-Z-Boy in Monroe for 15 years until her retirement in 1979. She was also a homemaker.
A member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carleton, Stella enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Stella is survived by her daughter Catherine A. Roberts of Monroe and her son Stanley A. (Mary L.) Zdeb of Franklin, TN, 6 grandchildren; Kurt, David, and John Zdeb, Michael Roberts, Kristin Stuckey, and Kimberley Hudgins, 4 great grandchildren; Ben and Andrew Hudgins and Summer and Sydney Stuckey, and a sister Bertha Czarnik of Monroe.
In addition to her husband and parents, Stella was preceded in death by a son Andrew Joseph Zdeb, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
On Thursday, September 29, 2011, she will lie in state at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. Fr. James Smalarz pastor of the church will officiate. Cremation will follow and interment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Carleton.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Central High School in Monroe.
The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe is assisting Stella's family with funeral arrangements.
