Obituary

Stanley F. Miller, age 90 of Monroe, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Medilodge of Monroe.
Born May 4, 1933 in Monroe, Stan was the son of the late Earl and Loretta (VonDerbeckie) Miller. He graduated from Monroe Catholic Central High School in 1951 and enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 9, 1953. For his time serving his country during the Korean War, Stan earned the Army Occupation of Germany award and the National Defense Service Medal before being honorably discharged on March 17, 1955.
On May 7, 1955, Stan married Joan M. Boylan at St. John Catholic Church. She passed away on August 3, 2001. He later married Marjorie A. Dussia on April 16, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church. She too preceded Stan in death on November 13, 2021.
Stan worked in the heating and cooling industry for most of his life before opening his own business in 1973. He owned and operated Miller Heating and Cooling Service in Monroe until 1999, retiring in 2000. In his personal time, Stan enjoyed making stain glass, doing yardwork, playing Bridge, traveling, doing paint by numbers art, and Square Dancing.
Stan is survived by four children, Eric (Kim) Miller of Hermansville, MI, Neal (Suzette) Miller of Monroe, Cynthia (Greg) Vedra of Lambertville, and Amy (Patrick) Vines of Monroe; brother, Arthur (Karen) Miller of Redford, MI; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12th at Bacarella Funeral Home where an evening Scripture Service will be held. Stan will lie in state the following day on Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by the church pastor, Rev. Fr. David Burgard along with Deacon Michael Stewart. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors provided by Monroe VFW Post 1138.
