Shirley E. Petersen, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, age 90, currently of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Seacrest Rehab and Nursing Home.
Shirley was born November 15, 1931 in Willow Lake South Dakota, she was the daughter of Daniel and Margaret (Eisley) Couch.
She was a regional manager for Avon Dry Cleaners until her retirement. She lived most of her adult life in the Omaha, NE area, which she loved and considered home. In 2017 she moved to Monroe.
Shirley was a master bridge player and instructor and played with and/or taught Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and Omar Sharrif.
Shirley is survived by her four children, Wanda R. Modica of Ann Arbor, Cynthia D. (Ronald) Salie of Maine, Margaret E. Alford of Monroe, and Donald E. (Dede) Wolford of Nebraska; two siblings, Dennis (Joann) Couch and Patricia Dolezal both of Nebraska; twelve grandchildren, John B. Modica, Victoria Modica, Seth Modica, Leanne Coleman, Cindy (Dennis) Scarpaci, Suzanne L. Villerot, David P. Petrella, Andrew Wolford, Jimmy Wolford, Sherry (Justin) McBride, Tara Wolford and Kimberly Catlin and many great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harlen Petersen, a son, Louis Paul Villerot, five sisters, and three brothers.
In accordance with Shirley's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services.
