Shawn Michael Killingback, 60 years, of St. Augustine, Florida, formerly of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine after a brave battle with liver cancer.
Born November 3, 1957 in Wyandotte, Michigan, Shawn was the son of the late Sydney and Alice V. (Fitzgerald) Killingback. The family moved to Monroe in 1969 and Shawn attended Monroe Public Schools. He moved to Florida in 2013.
Shawn was employed as an operating engineer working out of Local 324 until his retirement in 2008.
Shawn was a member of Operating Engineers Local 324. He enjoyed shooting pool and relaxing at the beach.
Shawn is survived by two cherished grandchildren: Taelor (fiancé Lonnie) Killingback and Jordan Killingback, two treasured great grandsons: Bentley and Kash Weisenstein, two sisters: Dawn M. (Brian) Collum of Monroe and Susan (Joseph) Zurawski of Milan, MI, and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Shawn was preceded in death by his son Sean, four brothers: Sherman, Richard, LeMoyne, and James, three sisters: Gloria, Joann, and Colleen.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 beginning at 11:00 AM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. Monroe, MI, 48161, where a memorial service celebrating Shawn's life will be held at 1:00 PM.
