Obituary

Sharon G. Nocella, 75 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in her home with her loving family by her side.

Born January 7, 1951, in Trenton, Michigan, Sharon was the daughter of the late John A. and D. Lillian (Sine) Copeland. Sharon was a graduate of Thomas J. Anderson High School in Southgate, Michigan.

On August 14, 1971, Sharon married her beloved husband, Roger A. “Butch” Nocella, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Monroe, Sadly, Butch preceded her in death on October 7, 2021, after 50 years of marriage.

Sharon worked as a beautician in Monroe and at various greenhouses in the area as a seeder, most notably for Four Star Greenhouse in Carleton. More than anything, Sharon was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed caring for her family.

A member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Sharon helped cook and was instrumental in the day to day operations of the church’s booth at the Monroe County Fair.

Sharon enjoyed yearly trips to see family in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Her favorite time of year was from Thanksgiving to Christmas. She so enjoyed decorating her home and setting up her Christmas Village scene all the while entertaining and feeding family.

Sharon is survived by her beloved daughter, Sondra L. Nocella – Thorn of Monroe; five cherished grandchildren, Shannon K. Nocella, Erin J. Nocella – Thorn, James A. Morgan, Clayton P. Thorn, and Ernest J. (Kailie) Thorn; and a great grandson, Xander J. Thorn.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sharon was preceded in death by two daughters, Shannon May and Tanya Mae Nocella; a sister, Brenda Pawlowski, and a brother, John A. Copeland II.

In keeping with Sharon’s wishes cremation will be held. On Saturday, September 12, 2026, memorial visitation will be held at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, beginning at 9:30 am, where a memorial service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held at 11:00 am. Rev.
