Sharon Marie Dykes, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Monroe, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026 in her home.
Sharon was born November 18, 1944 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Ralph and Phyllis (Calkins) Smock. She married Charles J. Dykes February 27, 1965 at St. John the Baptist Church, sadly he preceded her in death March 20, 1991.
She was a 1962 graduate of St. Mary Academy. She was a very devoted and faithful catholic, she attended St. Michael Church, Monroe for many years when she moved to Florida she became a member of Queen of Peace Church.
Sharon enjoyed crocheting, watching movies, and maintained an impressive collection of DVDs. In her younger years, she was passionate about woodworking and created many handcrafted items that she lovingly gifted to family and friends, many of which are still cherished today.
She also enjoyed discussing politics and, after any conversation with her, there was never any doubt about where she stood on an issue. Sharon was an active member of the Republican Club within her Oak Run community and valued the friendships and discussions it provided.
In her spare time, she loved watching humorous Facebook reels and often shared her favorites with family, bringing smiles and laughter to those she cared about most.
She was a bus driver for Monroe Public Schools, retiring June 6, 2006.
She is survived by her four children, Bryan A. (Nancy) Dykes of Luna Pier, Erik C. Dykes of Monroe, Stacie A. Webb of Monroe and Chad J. (Tina) Dykes of Monroe; four siblings, Susan (Mike) Shively of Suttons Bay, MI, Maryann Duvall of Chattanooga, TN, Martin (Carol) Smock of Maybee and Gary Smock of Florida; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Cameron, Olivia, Caylie, Brennan, Jacob and Mason and two great grandchildren, Harrison and Roland.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dennis Smock.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 2 p.m. and ending the evening with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI 48161. She will lie instate Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Church with Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
