Obituary

Sharon K. Dykes, age 77 of Monroe, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Sharon was born August 17, 1947 in Monroe; she was the daughter of Raymond Noel and Mildred (Carr) Noel – Bastien. After her father's death her stepfather Cecil Bastein helped raise her.
She was a 1966 graduate of Jefferson High School. Sharon married Benjamin M. Dykes June 21, 1969 at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church; they spent 47 years together before he passed away October 16, 2016.
Sharon was a bus driver for more than 30 years for Monroe Public Schools before her retirement.
Her life was her family, she treasured every moment spent with them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant to absolute world to her. She also enjoyed fixing up her house, gambling a little and shopping a lot.
Sharon and Ben were members of the Monroe Area Street Rods. They spent many summer days at car shows. They traveled through Michigan and to different states in one of their street rods and their 55 Chevy, they made many wonderful memories and friends on the journey.
She is survived by her two daughters, Michelle L. (Tracy) Raymer of Newport and Vicki L. (Dan) McCracken of Monroe; a stepson, Benjamin Michael (Heather) Dykes, Jr. of Punta Gorda, FL; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Katie) Raymer, Jeremy (Ashley) Raymer, Christopher (Kerri) Raymer, Nikki (David) Brown, Alexis McCracken, Austin Dykes and Morgan Hubbard; five great grandchildren, Sydney, Charlotte, Dawson, Benjamin and Lennon; two "adopted" daughters, Renee Noland and Laura Tucker; special friends, Judy Magoon, Beverly Clark and Jan Beauman.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, brother, Essie "Tony" Noel, grandparents and special aunt, Noel Taylor, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe where services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Roy Southerland will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
Sharon would like to thank everyone for all the help they gave her through this journey, she loves you all.
