Scott A. Wagner, age 66 of Monroe, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. He had been ill for two months due to complications from cancer.
Born July 18, 1958 in Monroe, Scott was the son of Donald and Marlene (Dietrich) Wagner. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1977 and went to work for Monroe Auto Equipment. On May 18, 1984 he married Christina M. Donofrio at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. Together they raised three children. Over the years, Scott earned an associate degree from Monroe County Community College… one class at a time.
Scott was later employed by Detroit Stoker and then by Monroe Environmental where he has been working for the past 10+ years.
Scott was a huge fan of NASCAR Racing and University of Michigan Football. His many hobbies included playing with his grandkids, softball, bowling, playing cards, carpentry, hunting, bicycling, and motorcycle riding.
Scott is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tina Wagner; children: Lindsey (Jeremy) Riggs of Ida, MI, and their children Jaxson Vanwasshenova and Henley Riggs; Katelyn (T.J. Hubbard) Wagner of Deford, MI, and their children Wyatt, Remi, and Rosco Hubbard; and Andrew Wagner of Monroe; mother, Marlene Wagner of Monroe; two sisters, Debbie Newman of Monroe and Julie (Rich) Menzel of Lambertville, MI.
Scott was preceded in death earlier this year by his father Donald Wagner, and brother-in-law, Mike Newman.
Family and friends may visit from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8th at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 3 p.m. Deacon Michael Stewart will officiate with cremation to follow. Private interment at Roselawn Memorial Park will take place at a later date.
Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Heartland Hospice.
