Ruth L. Standifer, age 85, of Monroe, MI passed away, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at The Lutheran Home in Monroe. Ruth was born December 19, 1923 in Williamsburg, KY the daughter of the late Charles E. and Flossie (Davis) Hollors. Ruth and her family moved to Monroe when she was a child. On October 4, 1946 in Napoleon, OH Ruth married her beloved husband Dan C. Standifer. Sadly Dan preceded her in death on January 27, 2003. A hard working woman Ruth worked throughout her life. In addition to being a homemaker Ruth worked as a stitcher for Monroe Paper Products for 15 years, as a clerk for S&H Green Stamp Store in Monroe for 6 years and as a housekeeper for Monroe Care Center for 3 years. Most of all Ruth will be remembered as a true Christian and was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. Ruth is survived by 2 sisters; Geraldine E. Snow and Wilma Fox both of Monroe and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents Ruth was preceded in death by 2 sisters. Visitation for Ruth will be held on Wednesday from 3-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Von Loop former pastor of Frenchtown Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given to The Lutheran Home or a charity of the donor's choice.
