Ruth L. Rose, age 80 of Monroe, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at Fountain View of Monroe after a four-year battle with cancer.
Born May 1, 1943 in Monroe, Ruth was the daughter of the late Roy and Helen (Dutt) Richter. She attended Monroe Public Schools and married Jackie Rose on March 1, 1969 in Monroe.
Ruth was an active life member of Monroe VFW Post 1138 Auxiliary. Her hobbies included bowling, visiting casinos, spending time with her grandchildren, going on trips with her daughters and sister, and, according to her family, Ruth was a "professional" Bingo player.
Ruth is survived by her husband Jackie; three children, Terri Morrison of Monroe, MI, Ronald Brown of Ypsilanti, MI, and Rebecca (Gordon) Gotz of Carleton, MI; two brothers, Jack (Grace) Richter and William Richter, both of LaSalle, MI; sister, Sharon Dwornik of LaSalle, MI; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Brown.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6th at Bacarella Funeral Home where auxiliary members of Monroe VFW Post 1138 will pay tribute to Ruth at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. B.J. McDaniel, pastor of One Way Christian Fellowship Church will officiate, followed by burial at LaSalle Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Monroe VFW Post 1138 Auxiliary.
