Ruby Mae Hunley, 84 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Liberty West Nursing Center in Toledo, OH where she had been since August of 2007.
Born May 30, 1927 in New Tazewell, TN, Ruby was the daughter of the late Hobert and Pearlie (Turner) Hunley. Ruby moved to Monroe in 1962.
A homemaker, Ruby was a charter member of Union Street Missionary Baptist Church.
A very active member of the church, Ruby taught Sunday School and helped teach the children during Vacation Bible School.
Ruby enjoyed quilting, reading and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Ruby is survived by her brother Jerry Hunley and her sister Maxine (Jake) Saylor both of Corbin, KY, her friend and cousin Mollie R. Green of Monroe, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents Ruby was preceded in death by a sister and 3 brothers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe where funeral services celebrating her life will on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Joe Bryant, pastor of Union Street Missionary Baptist Church and the Rev. Jimmy Miracle will officiate. Interment will be held Historic Woodland Cemetery in Monroe.
