Roy A. Raymer, age 76 of Monroe, passed away Monday morning, March 7, 2022 in his home. He had been in declining health for two years and seriously ill the past two months.
Born April 22, 1945 in Belleville, MI, Roy was the son of the late Albert and Genevia (Inman) Raymer. A graduate of Monroe High School, Roy later earned an Associate Degree in Electronics from Rets Institute of Technology. On April 4, 1964, he married Helen M. Estes at the Salvation Army Church of Monroe. Together they raised three children.
Roy was employed by Whitehead & Kale as a metal fabricator from 1965 to 1982. He was also a skilled mechanic and did small engine repair for many years until finally retiring in 2015. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Roy is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Helen Raymer; two sons, Roy (Laurae) Raymer of Petersburg and Tracy (Michelle) Raymer of Newport; 8 grandchildren: Christopher, Steven, Josh, Brandy, Jeremy, Kaitlyn, Dustin, and Kaysie; and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Roy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Raymer, and 8 siblings: Samuel, Nathaniel, Albert, David, Thomas, Kerry, Daniel, and Michael.
Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Mar. 11th at Bacarella Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Mark McCaskill of Cornerstone Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Monroe Twp. Cemetery.
