Rosetta A. (Long) Connor, 94 years, of Monroe, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 9:25 AM in Fountain View of Monroe.
Born June 29, 1918 in Speedwell, TN, Rose was the daughter of the late Jesse James and Hassie L. (Pierce) Turner.
In January of 1938 Rose married Ora Long in Wartburg, TN. Rose and Ora moved to Monroe in 1941 from Burville, TN. Sadly, He preceded her in death on September 18, 1981. In 1983 Rose then married Charles H. Connor in Monroe. Sadly, he too preceded her in death on May 18, 1992.
Rose was a devoted member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Secretary of the Joyful Servants Sunday School Class. Rose also volunteered for Outreach. Rose was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and cooking, Most of all Rose loved her family.
Rose is survived by her loving daughter: Patricia A. Harmon of Monroe, two loving grandchildren: Tracie (Donald, Jr.) Mayes and Kenneth (Dori) Harmon II, both of Monroe, and six treasured great grandchildren: Jordan, Tyler, Gage, Connor, Drew, and Kacie all of Monroe. In addition to her parents and husbands, Rose was preceded in death by two granddaughters: Kim Marie and Robin Lynn, a son in law: Kenneth C. Harmon, five brothers: Willard, Dewey, Troy, Olin and Lee, and one sister: Maggie Whited.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
