Rosa Lee Jackson, 92 years young, of Toledo, OH, formerly of Monroe, MI left to be in the hands of the Lord on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at her home in Toledo. Rosa was born August 17, 1916 in Lula, MS the daughter of the late Earnest and Florida (Mitchell) Bradley Rosa attended school in Clarksdale, MS and moved to Monroe in 1942. On October 17, 1959 in Toledo Rosa married her beloved husband Garfield W. Jackson. Sadly he preceded her in death on January 8, 1993. Rosa was a beautician, a domestic housekeeper, a nurses aid, and along with her husband owned and operated The Cozy Inn Restaurant in Monroe. Rosa was a member of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Toledo, a former member of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe where she served on the Mother Board and a life member of the VFW Post 1138, Ladies Auxiliary. Rosa enjoyed gardening, cooking and was an avid fisherman. Rosa will be remembered for her bubbly personality, story telling, and her beautiful smile. Rosa knew how to make people laugh and keep a crowd entertained. Above all Rosa loved her family. Rosa is survived by Willie J. Thomas of Monroe, 1 stepson Garfield A. (Mary) Jackson of Columbus, OH, 1 stepdaughter Loretta Timberlane of Cleveland, OH, many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 great great granddaughters, many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Rosa was preceded in death by 2 sons; Earnest Harris and Joe Henry Thomas, 1 stepdaughter Helen Jackson, 1 sister Queen Esther Hearns. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 445 Dorr St., Toledo, OH. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe. The Rev. Dr. W.L. Perryman Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
