Obituary

Roger D. Kerkenbush, 83 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
Born March 3, 1940 in Keiler, Wisconsin, Roger was the son of the late William and Adeline (Meoska) Kerkenbush. He was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Keiler. Roger graduated from Cuba City High School and attended Monroe County Community College.
Roger served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Navy.
On October 7, 1997, Roger married his beloved wife, Frankilene Weiss Standifer in Toledo.
Roger worked as a union millwright and laborer out of Local 1102 in Warren, MI, and Local 499 in Monroe. He spent most of his time working at Fermi II in Monroe. He remained a retired member of both unions.
Roger was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe and also enjoyed attending Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the Monroe Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Mason's. He enjoyed walking and time spent with family.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Frankie, five loving children: Michael (Theresa) Brasfield of Bend, OR, Michael Hensley, James Hensley, Pamela Moffitt and Joseph A. (Lisa) Weiss all of Monroe, seven cherished grandchildren: Shane, Chelle, James, Kurstyn, Kayla, Joey, and Riquel, seven treasured great grandchildren, and his sister Marie Capesius of Dubuque, Iowa.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by five siblings, Alfred, Ginnie, Eileen, Elizabeth and Jerry; a granddaughter, Kinsey Hensley, a grandson, Kenneth Moffitt, and a great grandson, Mazin Savage.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. Monroe, Michigan, 48161 from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service, celebrating his life at 4:00 pm. The Rev. Jim Williams, pastor of Flat Rock Church of God, will officiate.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church or Flat Rock Church of God.
