Obituary

Roger Bernard Barron, age 63, of Sylvania, Ohio died peacefully at his home on August 26, 2016 around 4:00 P.M. He had been in poor health for the last 10 months.
Roger was born on August 23, 1953, in Monroe, Michigan to Bernard and Dorothy (Trombly) Barron. He attended St. Michael's Parochial School and Monroe Public Schools.
Roger was a "man's man" in every way; his employment history reflects that. He was with the CSX Railroad for 14 years; appreciated the dedicated labor and results of working in landscaping and was also in the power-washing field for many years. He was very highly regarded and thoroughly enjoyed his final place of employment, 'Welch's Golf Carts', in Perrysburg, Ohio. He was also a member of the London/Maybee/Raisinville Volunteer Fire Department when he lived in that area of Michigan.
Roger had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and loved nothing more than a long ride on any one of the many bikes he owned in his lifetime. He enjoyed music, especially classic rock and he was the first one to sit down at a family function and declare "let's play cards"! He was eager to beat not only his nieces, nephews and siblings but EVEN his mother Dorothy in penny-ante poker games and euchre tournaments, laughing good-naturedly at out-witting everyone.
Roger met Julie Almroth in 1996 and they would have celebrated 20 years of love and commitment to one another this December. She was his "ship in the storm" throughout his entire illness.
In addition to his devoted wife, Julie, Roger is survived by his two sons, Roger Barron, Jr., of Atlanta, GA and Jason (Aprol) Barron of Mesa, AZ, his daughter, Amiee Barron of Glendale, AZ and his step-daughter, Jennifer Parish of Toledo, OH, 11 grandchildren and was anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild in October. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Ronald (Debra) Barron, of Monroe, MI, Brenda (Terry) Pulcheon of Monroe, MI, Barbara Barron of Monroe, MI and Dan (Glenn) Barron of Atlanta, GA, along with many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his brother Richard, in 1968, his father, Bernard, in 1991, his sister Betsey, in 2004, his sister, Fran (Gilbert) Yanez in 2006 and his mother, Dorothy, in 2011.
Roger will be remembered not only for his sense of humor and wit but also for his innate kindness towards family, friends and his "four-legged" companions.
Bacarella Funeral Home in Monroe, Michigan, is handling arrangements for cremation and there will be a private, informal memorial service for him at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any memorials in Roger's honor be bestowed upon St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the family.
