Obituary

Rodney A. Bosanac, age 81, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Rod was born July 31, 1941 in Monroe, he was the son of Michael and Dorothy (Trefen) Bosanac. He married his high school sweetheart Margaret A. Fisher on October 12, 1963 at St. Anne Church, Monroe.
He was a 1959 graduate of Monroe High School. He was a member of St. Anne Church and their Men's Club and former member of the Moose Lodge 884.
Rod worked for the State of Michigan Department of Military Affairs at the Monroe Armory for 42 years retiring in 2002. When Rod retired, he was awarded the Legion of Merit from the Adjutant General of Michigan, this is the highest honor that can be awarded to a civilian. He also owned and operated R.A. Bosanac Lawn and Landscaping for 50 years.
He was a people person. He enjoyed being out and talking with people, he never met a person he couldn't talk to. He also enjoyed working on things, collecting different items and most of all he loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Rod is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret; two sons, Rodney (Terri) Bosanac II and Paul Bosanac of Monroe; a brother, Michael (Patricia) Bosanac of Monroe; three grandchildren, Ryan Bosanac of Brownstown, Craig Bosanac of Monroe and Justin Busz of Dundee; brothers-in-law, Milton (Clara) Fisher and Reni Iocoangeli; sisters-in-law; Dorothy Bosanac and Joan Fisher and many nieces and nephews and their families.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers George, Peter and Nicholas Bosanac; four sisters, Eileen Flynn, Mary Graves, Katherine Bosanac and Simica "Sis" Iocoangeli; father and mother-in-law, Milton and Anna Fisher; brothers-in-law, Julius and Walter Fisher.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. He will lie instate on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Church 2420 N. Dixie Hwy., Monroe, with Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Henry Rebello, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
