Robert J. Weiss, age 72, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born November 28, 1952 Bob was the son of Otto and Martha (Guzniczak) Weiss. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970. In 1974 he married Betty Ann Balent, together they would share forty-seven years of marriage before she sadly preceded him in death on October 24, 2021.
Together with his parents, Bob owned the Robt. J. Motel in Petoskey, Michigan. Bob had many fond memories at the motel, and it was always a point of pride for him. Bob was also a line worker at Ford Motor Company for 30 years before his retirement.
He loved to go up north with his best friend Chuck Langton and together they would go hunting or fishing. That was his happy place. Bob also loved to spend time with his family. He was kind, generous, and laid back.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Matthias) Soltis of Monroe; stepdaughter, Christine (Mark) Yuna of Monroe; six grandchildren, Courtney (Shane) Beasley, Kendalyn Beasley, Stephanie (Dave) Dover, David (Aerielle) Dover, Jessica Dover, and Bethanne Thompson; his best friend, Chuck (Joy) Langton; and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Betty, Bob was preceded in death by his parents and stepson Michael W. Yuna.
In accordance with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
